I kind of have to agree that Florida is kind of seedy. I mean, insurance rates are astronomical here because of the high rate of insurance fraud... FL is kind of a sketchy place (but I kind of like that about it, weirdly?)

Scratch Kentucky off my list of places to relocate to. The vets are prohibited by law from reporting suspected abuse or fighting.

Interesting report, BTW.

No state law yet, but several municipalities (Seminole, Pinellas County) have made unsupervised tethering of animals illegal. I was really glad to hear that.

I am more concerend with the heavy child abuse! I think animal cruelty is horrid, but I think up in them mountains alot of things go on that never make it to the sheriff's office, so the CITY has more known cases w the media in tow. Alot of these puppy mills etc are in the rural areas.

When I was in MI, the stories I would hear from my clients at work were absolutely horrendous. It was shocking, and it was going on all the time. Rarely if ever did anything make the news.

I don't know if I would call it "better" reporting, because it doesn't seem to help anything, but Florida certainly picks up and reports on every single thing.

So rather than looking at actual statistics, you base your beliefs off of what you hear or read in the media? It's not important unless the media tells you it's important, and everything that the media says is a true reflection of the big picture, right?

Do you have statistics? I couldn't find any statistics that broke down incidents by state. Do you see a problem with either of the news articles I posted? Were they not factual? Are you suggesting the media just makes this stuff up? Give me something more to go on so I can get my belief system in check.
