Its a progression, seat belt laws were the same way at first they could only give you a seat belt ticket if they pulled over for something else.

I agree with the previous poster and on top of that it will scare some other txting drivers, which may make a difference.

Even toff laws will not prevent all people from doing wrong things...

I would and I have never got a ticket before. What is on MY phone is MY business.

As much as the hand-wringing "THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW!" folk, led by parents whose children died in distracted driving accidents, believe that it will make a difference, it will never be enforced.

Think about it: there are much, much easier laws to enforce concerning vehicles with illegal equipment, expired license tags, etc. These are extremely easy to enforce and could also justify the extra manpower due to the big fines.

Are they? No. Heck, you can drive down the street and see cars on a daily basis with their back ends smashed in with no taillights, cars without visible license plates, etc.

If you think this law will be any different, you are very naive.

Is this a joke? Just because I decline to have an officer of the state go through my personal belongings does not make me a "professional offender".

I have a right to be secure in my person and belongings.

But if you think when you get in a car accident the phone history is not relevent than you are in lalaland....it will make a huge difference and most people don't realize that txting behind the wheel can have huge consequences.
