Hi, I just landed a job at the VA Hospital in Tampa and am currently researching apartments, but I don't know where to look. Mostly concerned about safety. I heard that the areas close to the hospital are sketchy. Any suggestions?

stay away from that side of I 275. Unless you go more north to New Tampa...whole lot better. But single? I'd live closer to beach if you are a beach goer. Traffic to work gonna suck from st pete / clearwater.

New Tampa would be a good choice, as would the Carrollwood area.

My husband just got a job with the VA Hospital also, he starts July 1st and we are moving there from NC. We have been looking at the Wesley Chapel, Land O Lakes, New Tampa areas. It really depends on what you are looking for. We have a 16yr old still in school so school districts are important to us. I have also heard that the area around the VA isnt great. Good Luck! ! !

The area around the VA is a dump. Search areas north or west of there. When looking west, the further west of Dale Mabry you are, the better.

East and due south are ghetto.

Good areas - will face some traffic w/ commute, but I think all three of those areas would be where I'd recommend Haley folks look.
