Looking for 1-2 beds, as close as possible to the Oakstead area but would be happy with anything close to 54 between the Suncoast Pkwy and 75. It seems like there is only very low level housing (trailers/vulnerable in severe weather; apartments/bad reviews re: drugs, crime, etc.) and very high level housing that's gorgeous but $900+/mo.

If I have to I can pay the higher price, but I will be starting a new job and want to be conservative in the beginning since I'm not sure what the cost of living will be. Finding decent rentals for under $800 is ridiculously easy in other parts of the Tampa Bay, but in Land O'Lakes I'm having a really hard time finding anything on craigslist, zillow, trulia, etc. Is there some secret affordable housing finder that I'm missing?? Thanks for any advice you can give!

Ha, I thought of that as well! There are so many vacant houses, I figured at least some must be willing to lower their rent. Thanks for your help :c)

Do you mean Delano at Cypress Creek? Their website says they do have some 1 bedroom apartments around $800 - thanks for the tip!

That looks like a nice apartment complex. Rent of $810-$820 for 800 sq ft is a good deal. They also allow two pets! Good luck with your search.
