I hope I am posting this in the right forum, please move it if I'm not.

I'm traveling to St Pete Beach later this month. I have decided to not rent a car and just enjoy a relaxing stay on the beach and around my hotel.

What is the best, and cheapest, way to get from St Petersburg/Clearwater Intl (PIE) to the Postcard Inn on St Pete Beach? The Super Shuttle is $60.00 each way before taxes, tip, etc. Is a taxi service cheaper?

Thanks for all of your help!

For about the same price (maybe even less) you can hire a private car service and won't have to share a van with a bunch of other people.

PCI is fun, you will have a good time. I love it there.

Is drinking alcohol allowed on St Pete Beach?

I am not sure the specifics, but I know you can drink on the privately owned areas such as behind Caddy's and PCI. (they have their own beach bars). I usually stick to those areas, but I've also "spilled" beyond the private boundary and never had issues. It's been my experience that as long as you aren't acting like a clown, most people don't care.

Perhaps someone who is less of a summer beach alcoholic can chime in with more info.

On the Supershuttle website, I was able to find a service that went to/from PIE/PCI for $45 per trip before all the extra garbage. Might wanna try searching there again.

Just flew in and out of St Pete/Clearwater. Took a cab both times from Treasure Island to the airport and back. Our cab cost $40 to get there and the cab back, was $38.
You can drink on all of Treasure Island. No open container laws.
St Pete public beaches I don't think you can, maybe on private beaches.

I appreciate the info, tony.

I think I'll just take a cab. Seems reasonable enough and simple.
