I'll be seeking 1 bedroom apartment at first. I'll be in Brandon right off I-75 & have heard the nightmarish stories about Tampa traffic. What areas are close to Brandon that would provide what I seek?

Oh, apartment budget for 1 bedroom would be up to $600-650/mo. Thanks.

PS: I've read other threads already, but I have no idea where other places are, proximity or drive times.

Versant Place Apartments in Brandon, FL 33511

Or any of the apartments in that vicinity. Not a bad location, imo. Not sure what they charge for 1 bedrooms, might be in the $700 range.

Thanks for the tips. Yeah I'm finding out my price range will get me a dump.

Any other suggestions? Is Polk County worth considering?

The money you save will help pay for the gas to commute to Brandon.

You have choices at that price point, I quick search under 33511 shows some hits, anywhere in Brandon is safe. Along MLK in Tampa there is some gated lower price apartments. Your challenge is going to be renewing the lease at that price, often those prices go up when you renew but if you are single you can actually make out by taking those move in specials from place to place

Since you are going to be working in Brandon, I suggest living in Brandon or Riverview. Both areas are safe, convenient to shopping, medical facilities, I-75, restaurants, bars, etc. There are tons of apartments in these areas, but I admit I have no idea what the rents are. Anytime you can reduce your commute time you should. Traffic here is less than desirable. Best wishes.

Drive to the entrance area of the Selmon Expressway at Brandon - vicinity of Brandon Pkwy, Lumsden Rd, and Causeway Blvd (in the area of the Versant Apartments I posted above), and you'll find decent complexes (aka low ghetto look).

Be careful, as there are a number of complexes clustered around the north end of Providence near 60 that are sort of sketchy. When we first moved here in the mid 90s our realtor suggested them and they were sketchy then.

$600-$700 for a one bedroom is going to be tough in this area. You're at the very bottom of the range, if that.
