Mayor Buckhorn goal: free Wi-Fi in Tampa's parks | Breaking Tampa Bay, Florida and national news and weather from Tampa Bay Online and The Tampa Tribune | TBO.com

Wait a minute...is this so that nobody is watching the kids play on those structures? or dogs?

WOW...whatever happened to enjoying this area!???

Also, who is going to pay for this? How many people will be in these parks using this? to me this is just another waste of tax payers money. Did I mention it is HOT outside? why not expand the Libraries?

Free? I heard him saying that if you have the same provider it may be free otherwise there will be a FEE!

I guess either the written media didn't have their listening ears on or just ignored that "R" in "FREE" and rather write the "R" than the same word without the "R".

BIG DIFFERENCE!

Looks like another way to attract more homeless to the parks. Buckhorn loves those urban outdoorsmen!

You forgot to mention that there are free Obama phones...many of them it seems, since some of them have 4 or more.

It's hilarious to hear the Buckhorn hate. Anyways, as a college student, this is great news. Now I don't have to be stuck indoors while doing that 10 page research paper.

The Obama phones that the lifeline program provides which was created 1985 and expanded to include cellphones in 2008. Thats funny but shouldnt they be bushphones.
If anything Obama reformed the program to prevent fraud and abuse.

I always heard it was started under Bush. Either way its "F"ing ridiculous.
All these welfare programs are seriously abused. My personal observation is about 15% of people receiving entitlements actually deserve and /or appreciate them!

Lifeline was started during the Reagan administration and expanded to include cell phones in 2008. There use increased a lot over the next couple years during the recession. Some dumb lady in Ohio was taped praising Obama for her free phone so now people assume Obama is handing out phones. Anyway, you have to be pretty damn poor to qualify and it's a cheap Trac phone with 250 minutes. It's not like they're going to be used in a park to get free WiFi.
