Gladly. Isn't that the purpose of taxes?

Cleveland's light rail travels the entire county, they charge different rates for different ride plans, the rates continually go down as the cost of the rail is paid off.

Seeing as the economy in Cleveland is much worse than Tampa, why can't we afford it? I know the old people will vote it down but if we took away their driver's licenses like we should then maybe they would vote for it?

Oh I get it.

Lets spend other peoples' hard earned money.

We'll just increase their taxes to pay for these things that very few people will even use (see Amtrak).

Stadium cost the same as only 1 mile of light rail.

Stadium is not a waste of money - brings in economic benefit. Light rail will run empty as Americans in this part of the country prefer to drive.

I agree with that, Light rail would be an epic failure in the Bay Area.

I meant that RJS was built with tax money and only really benefits a small part of the area, that go to concerts, Bucs games, or Bulls games..

tractor pulls, monster trucks, and dirt bike racing......an argument could be made that having a major league franchise like the Bucs brings commerce, jobs, corporation relocation to the area for better quality of life compared to areas without professional sports. Guess a light-rail does the same to a degree - (jobs to run the rail and build it, some might argue that quality of life improves by having the rail available). Stadium is much cheaper -

I'll admit that $168M to build RJS is much cheaper than the $1.3B it cost to build Cowboys stadium, or the $1.6B it cost to build Metlife stadium in New Jersey..

In cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, ect, ect, where they have a huge city population, that's fine.

The Cities of St. Petersburg, Tampa, Sarasota, Clearwater, Plant City, and Lakeland COMBINED doesn't even equate to a million people.

The population of the Tampa/St. Pete/Sarasota region is too spread out for light rail to work.
