That should say that Tampa's pretty safe. Like most cities, unless you're a gangbanger, a druggie, or live in a terrible area, you should be pretty safe.

How safe is the city itself? Is there any safety maps like someone posted for Rochester? link to what I'm talking about https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=e...a1d1c2b6e681a8

I don't have a crime map, try going to the Tampa Police Department webiste, or try calling them and asking which neighborhoods are unsafe.

I would say that most of Tampa's neighborhoods are pretty safe, after all, only 350,000 people live there...

Tampa Police Department: (813) 354-6600
Hillsborough County Sheriff: (813) 247-8200

its safe as any city- but some go over the top with crime and murders in certain parts, as in Chicago-- Tampabay has a problem with pills and dui's and bad drivers,,, there are stats everywhere you can google, I feel safe, and did in Miami as well.

The OP would probably get better answers if he was more specific about what suburbs he is interest in, his budget, house or apt, schools, etc... People could steer you in the right direction if they had more info.

Crime has gone down a LOT in Tampa since 2006, when these statistics came from. Here are some more recent ones:

No where near as dangerous as Miami, Orlando, or Jacksonville.

No worries: victims are mostly Chowdah heads and NY-transplants. We like to make them feel at home.

you have a better chance of someone breaking into your car than getting your ass beat (unless of course you are looking for it) larceny and auto theft are high

You're asking about Tampa, not the suburbs. And, stay off Nebraska Ave and the neighborhoods off of it, and you should be fine.
