My wife, 4 year old daughter, 1 year old son, and my self are relocating to the Tampa Bay Area and would love some input on where you guys think we would be able to rent a 2 or 3 bedroom place for a year while we look at where we might want to buy.

My wife has a job at Palm River Elementary in Tampa just south of Selmon Expressway and my daughter will likely be attending The Florida Autism Center of Excellence just north of Interstate 4/US400.

-My wife's sister and family live in Bradenton, so we'd prefer to live between her work and there.

-We would like to keep the rent around $800.

-We don't care so much about the demographics of the neighborhood, as long as it is safe. We're white, for whatever that is worth, but I grew up in a pretty diverse neighborhood in NY and have lived in other neighborhoods with a big Mexican population. We also wouldn't mind being a bit rural, if it is not too far away.

I would think Ruskin, should work for you. You want to be close to 41 so you shoot up to Palm River and your daughters school. If you start from the top Palm River/Progress Village and Gibsonton you probably want to avoid. Apollo Beach would be much much better but in your price range I am not sure, At this point you have the option to crossing i-75 and looking into Riverview which I am sure you can find an apartment on that price range in a decent area the rub on that is the traffic, depending on how far in you are. A little bit south of that is Ruskin which is more rural and you will get more bang for your buck but at that point you have to start thinking about the value you are getting versus the gas money.
