We are trying to schedule a trip back to Fla. this fall to look at some more areas... and Land O Lakes/Westchase/Citrus Park will be in the mix. We did like Lakeland, but it IS a pretty good drive to Tampa... even for us... we pretty much live in the car in Metro DC.

I understand the taxes in Pasco County are also better than Hillsborough...?
Lakeland has some minor sinkhole issues, nothing like that of Plant City, Plant City is home to a lot of farmers, strawberries ect. and when they draw the water down in the aquifer it creates sinkholes.

I think Valrico would fit the bill for you, in terms of good schools and acreage. Lutz another area with highly rated schools that can have some big lots.

Thanks for the suggestion of Varico and Lutz. Will definitely check those areas out. Any pros and cons of those areas vs the Wesley Chapel/Land O' Lakes area?

Land O Lakes and Lutz run together....Lutz is closer to Downtown but dont get to far down or it becomes run down and not so great of an area.

I'd stick to the north end of Hillsborough over the south. Lutz is a much better option than Brandon, Valrico, Seffner, or Plant City. Honestly though, I'd just stick to Tampa.

not knowing the area - what would be the benefits of living in Tampa itself, rather than Wesley Chapel, Lutz, or LOL? Is there less crime and better schools in Tampa over those areas?
