Hi! I'm considering a couple of days in Tampa/St. Pete's next weekend. It would be me, my 10-year-old and a 19-year-old visitor. We don't want to just do shopping or the beaches, and we're coming up from Charlotte County, so we're not really "tourists." Any suggestions?

Lived here 4 yrs and have yet to hit those museums. Gotta get to them one of these days.

Can throw in the Fla Aquarium (I have been there) to the list.

OP, you can find discount coupons to a lot of these places in those tourist booklets found at motels, Dennys, etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think our baseball team is in town.

The Buccaneers have open practice to the public on several mornings if you or your kids are interested in that (visit Buccaneers.com for more info). Saturday night 27th July there's an open practice at night to be held at Raymond James Stadium. I believe all is free (parking, entrance). Usually a festive affair. Kind of hot/humid and sometimes getting into parking takes some patience, but might be fun.

Bucs night practice and MOSI will keep you occupied pretty much a whole day and are great choices for the age group.

Thank you! Groupon is a great idea, thanks! And the ghost tour looks really neat, but I'm afraid it might be too intense for my easily-spooked 10-year-old? I don't want to spend a lot on museums, but maybe we can pick one to check out.

Dali has a deal on Thursdays, I think, but the 10-yr old probably couldn't care less about art at this stage of her/his life.
