Hello! My company is asking to relocate me to the New Tampa area (Hidden River Parkway) and I'm researching the area before accepting. I am young and single and it seems like Hyde Park is a safe and fun place to live. However, a short commute is important to me (I currently have a 10 min commute). I am willing to increase my commute if the quality of life in Hyde Park is worth it, but I was wondering what the average commute during rush hour would be (with a 8 am to 5 pm schedule). Any advice would be appreciated!

The good thing is you will be going against traffic for your commute, except for the first 2 miles in the morning and last 2 in the evening. Unfortunately, in traffic, those 2 miles alone will take you about 10 minutes. I would think the trip would be between 20 or thirty minutes. It all depends on how close to the interstate you will be working.
If you commute was the reverse, your drive would be about an hr.

I'm looking at the new NoHo Flats on the corner of N Rome and Fig, those seem close to the interstate.

Make sure you drive around that area before you commit, north Hyde park is very different from Hyde park, those flats are pretty pricey for that area for about three same money you can look at Hyde park post.

I was looking at the Post but the reviews are terrible for it.

I can;t personally vouch for the Post Hyde Park apartments, I know they are pricey compared to smaller apartment buildings and private owners in the area. I was talking about the location, if you want to move to Hyde Park/South Tampa then you dont want to be in North Hyde Park, maybe you do I don;t know, just check out the area thats all I am saying.

Unfortunately, online apartment reviews can't be trusted. Look around at different apartments and you'll see all of them have bad reviews. It's pretty obvious that competitors are trashing each other.

You should put a lot more faith in the opinions on City Data.

I hadn't even thought of smaller places or converted homes until you mentioned it. I was able to find some good options on Craigslist though. I will definitely drive around before I decide, thank you for your advice!
