Fortunately, most of the folks who are getting tired of being hit in the wallet are dying off. You seem younger and are probably a rare breed. Perhaps you all should move out further from civilization. If Tampa wants mass transit they will have it. I think a city vote rather than a county vote will prove this.

And for god's sake would you and everyone else please stop comparing Tampa to the largest metros in the country. We're not NYC, LA, CHICAGO, BOSTON, SF, PHILLY, DC, whatever. In comparison Tampa is a hick town and it's not worthy of discussion.

Yes, it's called warm weather and the beach.

Retirees move there for the same reasons they move to Mexico. Their money can be stretched further in less developed, less educated, cheap labor areas. Not to mention the humidity is good for their skin.

What? You're saying younger people don't mind paying taxes.

LOL - young people without money aren't concerned about paying taxes? SMH.

Young people living beyond their means need to be concerned about where every cent goes - including taxes.

Exactly. People should look at a list of state income tax by state and realize how good we have it.

The light rail idea is stupid. As a relocated from the north actual "young professional" (aka 20-30's white collar middle class, not PriusH8er's description of some idealistic 18 year old hippy or TinyTrump's tax adverse part time home depot cohorts) I live and work in Pinellas, and if I chose to take a job in Brandon or East Tampa I'd either move for the opportunity, ask to start and leave early, or accept the commute if it was a job I wanted.

There's nice affordable housing everywhere here, it's not like we have a giant city center like Boston with no suburbs in a reasonable driving distance. There's nice housing north, south, east, and west of Tampa in a reasonable driving distance to any employer. A light rail isn't any more likely to make me want to go out in Ybor or South Tampa from Pinellas, I have plenty of options here... and if I did I would just choose not to go out to Ybor or South Tampa between 8-9am and 5-6pm on Monday through Friday and just drive my car the 15 minutes it takes and be just fine.

Sorry to break the news to you, but there will always be older people in our country unless you plan on killing them all off. Maybe someday you will get old. But trust me, there are millions of people in this country who've gotten tired of paying excessive taxes, old and young. You're just not one of them.
