You must stop before the white line and if you turn right on red, it has to be after X number of seconds. In other words, you have to stop before the white line, wait a couple seconds, and then turn.

I agree, it is a big scam. If you read about these cameras in other parts of the country, you can see that in some locations, they had to actually be removed because people avoided certain parts of town so much that businesses began to close because of it.

The businesses had to petition city councils to get the cameras removed so that people would come back.

It's a money making government tool. One officer looking out for the camera not to be damaged at a highway and then mailing hundreds of tickets.

In Europe later they put them in smaller streets and that was making even more money.

Some cameras in areas with less population where set on fire over and over and never put back.

But this red light turn issue is so confusing and what about a white line that is so misplaced since you won't be able to see one thing by stopping before the white line...

Still, you need to stop at that line, wait a second or two and slowly move towards intersection. Since you stopped at the white line no ticket will be issued. As I said earlier I am going through one particular intersection daily, turning right on red every other time and never got any tickets or anything like that.
I don't see what is the big deal to stop on red and wait for few seconds.

You don't even have to stop for a few seconds. I turn right at a red light camera nearly every day and haven't gotten a ticket yet. Just stop for a split second or go very slowly through the turn. I think they are activated by the speed of the car.

You need to come to a COMPLETE stop BEFORE the solid white line, wait 2-3 seconds and then make your turn. This is how you are supposed to make a right on red. A red light IS NOT a yield sign! Its amazing that so many people do not understand this fundamental driving rule, and is an example of the underlying problem with the drivers here...

"Red
Come to a complete stop at the marked stop line or before moving into the crosswalk or intersection. At most intersections, after stopping, you may turn right on red if the way is clear. Some intersections display a "NO TURN ON RED" sign, which you must obey. Left turns on a red light from a one-way street into a one-way street are also allowed. Anyone convicted of
running a red light is required to complete a basic driver improvement course."

EDIT: Here is a link to the 2012 FL drivers handbook, I suggest some of you read this thoroughly before you head back out there :

It's been a while since I was doing safety research and red light cameras were rare, but if I recall correctly camera will activate based on the distance between camera and white line, so if the car passed white line the camera will activate... the activation also works when light is red.
