Why? If you compare it to Miami or even Orlando it is really thin! It might seem like it has more than Sarasota, but Sarasota has a ton of entertainment!

I guess I could settle for a smaller lot as long as it had a nice 6 foot privacy fence... but definitely not one of those 1/4 acre lots.... I don't think we are good neighbors, lol.. our dogs bark, we watch TV really loud.... we need space...
I posted recently with an almost identical wish list and haven't had much luck. I too want a big yard for my dogs to run and for me to be able to garden. Your acre lot by the water sounds wonderful.

I have also found that many subdivisions don't allow a privacy fence. It has to be one of those wrought iron/aluminum fences.

I don't think you will find the lifestyle you want with a lot of land in Tampa or St. Pete. Seminole has the Pinellas Trail as someone else mentioned, but it's really the suburbs. It's closer to the Gulf, but if you want to go Downtown St. Pete or to Tampa it's a bit of a drive.

If you can get over wanting a lot of land you might want to check out the Old Northeast section of St. Pete or around The Vinoy area. It's close to downtown, water, parks, and younger people tend to gather downtown. You can also look around the Crescent Lake area which is a little bit further north around 22nd Ave N but via 4th St you can be downtown in no time. There's also Snell Isle which is a nice area, but that area tends to be prone to flooding.

So now you're saying that downtown St. Pete is "dying" because it's smaller than downtown Miami or downtown Orlando? That doesn't make sense.

I like Sarasota; great spot for a day trip. But it's an older crowd. I wouldn't want to live there.

Right thats why people from Sarasota make the trip to Tampa and DTP all the time, and not the other way around.
