Well folks, I would like to thank you all for your assistance :-) It looks like Tampa it is, or the surrounding communities. We are concerned with finding employment however. We would like for at least one of us to have solid employment lined up prior to leaving Utah. The last time we made the move to Tampa (2009) we didn't have that and it didn't work out so good. The jury is still out on whether we'll come down without jobs when the time comes. Luckily for me, I have a pretty good skills set. Hopefully an employer down there will snatch me up. Been unemployed before, taking unemployment compensation and all that. Didn't like it too much, wasn't long before I was pulling my hair out, heeheehee :-) I will continue to monitor this post, and the whole sight. Any and all advice the good folks from the greater Tampa area can give me is welcome and appreciated. Thanks :-)

My suggestion- hook with with the temp services soon as you land, 2nd need a local address- they will NOT consider anything that is not local,, weird but true. and if you ex military... lots of fed here, many don't know it but there is.-- usajobs.gov

Another thing you may want to consider when making the move is location to MacDill AFB. Depending on if you get a 10 point preference it may be much easier to find a fed job there as Tiny was mentioning. Plus having the use of base facilities will help you save money. Another great resource that I have been using for my job hunt is indeed.com. Good luck..

I am retired air Force. We went to the base when we were there but it was strictly business and so I didn't look around much. And as a matter of fact I do have the ten point preference. Fanny (wife), keeps saying I should look into the base for employment. I don't Know though, obviously I'll take whatever employment I can get. If given the choice though I would rather not. I guess I figure I gave them 20 Years, that's enough. I did notice when driving to the base that the area outside the base was pretty run down. Seems every base I've been to is like that, hhhhhhmmmmmm.

At any rate, this is a pretty straight forward question: How is the job market down there in the greater Tampa area?

There is alot of FED off the base, there is a federal court house here, so all of the agencies are based here as well , besides the crime etc. -Just saying. also new things popping all the time. Easy fix -H-depot, Lowes, until you figure what's is convenient.
