I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota looking to move to a warmer climate. The winters are terrible here. And I came across Tampa Bay/ St. Petersburg and was wondering what it was like. I heard it has a bad crime rate but how bad can it be? Is it like Chicago bad? Or just bad. Whats a day like for a resident of Tampa Bay? Is the weather great? I'm trying to get all the info I can before I visit Tampa.

The weather sucks from mid May till mid Oct in my book. Areas vary with crime rates.

Everything you're asking has probably been addressed in a variety of threads over the last couple of years. Most of them can be found using the search function.

I'd gladly take heat and humidity during the summer months over months of grey skies and snow, but that's just me. I actually enjoy humidity, maybe I'm weird. I have a couple different friends along with my cousins that live in the St. Pete area and they all love it. I'll be down there next month.

I can't stand it anymore, and going weeks without rain every summer makes it worse.

I don't think climate is a good reason to move that far away from home unless you have a real medical issue that's affecting your quality of life.

Yep. Most make their decision on weather and weather only and when they get disappointed, oh well you know the rest .
