Hi Tarpon Springs locals. What's the status of the Beckett Bridge renovation or replacement project? It has to be my favorite bridge anywhere. It adds so much character to Tarpon Springs. I am hoping it is saved and restored. I can't find any news about the project. What's the local gossip and chatter about the status of the project? Thanks!

Is there something special about this bridge?

Is there something special about this bridge? YES YES YES. It is quaint, historic, and beautiful. In my humble opinion, Beckett Bridge sets a wonderful tone for all the surrounding neighborhoods and for Tarpon Springs in general. I'd hate to see it go.

WHAT? That whole road is a mess, and they put speed bumps before paving it! REALLY SMART! NOT!

It's a tiny draw bridge...I don't see what's so special about it...

Sorry PhotoPro, but I could not disagree more. The bridge is an architectural gem. Yes, it needs renovations but not replacement nor removal. It is a piece of Tarpon history and a Tarpon landmark. Preserve the past and save our local history!

Same here. It leads to somewhere really special, but the bridge itself is dumpy.

Yeah, I agree it needs repairs. I just don't want it eliminated. An old style drawbridge defines the nautical and historic feeling of that part of town. Personally I love slowing down to cross, watching the boats and the birds, smelling the salt in the air. I may never convince anyone, but I think it is very cool.

Anyone heard any rumors or have an inside scoop on which way the project review team is leaning?
