For those who love the food trucks, I thought you might be interested in this:

Aug. 31, 2013 | Worlds Largest Food Truck Festival

They have really gained popularity up where I am and some of them have really good/interesting/healthy-and-not-so-healthy food.

I guess this gathering is going for the Guinness Book record (there's a record for this??) for the most food trucks at one event. Sounds like a good time though!

We just had one of these in Columbus, OH. There was a really great one called Island Noodles, and I was disappointed to find out that it wasn't a local truck...but then saw that it was a Florida truck, and perked up a little! One more thing to look forward to about the eventual move!

There is a New England group that organizes a few of these each year, not at this magnitude, but overall, probably about 20 or so trucks. I went to my first one early this year and got some tips which I will share:
  • there will be so many trucks that you will be overwhelmed so take a walk through and scope out the ones you really want to try so you're not spending $ on the first ones you see
  • if going with another person, it's best to split an order, that way you can sample alot more different types of food (and lighter on your wallet, too, as it can add up)
  • there will be so much to try, you may wish to bring a cooler with you so that you can take home what you do not eat there; it also provides a nice seat when standing in the long lines!
  • if there is one truck/menu item that you simply HAVE to try, regardless of the line, make sure you get there early; popular items will run out
  • WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING

I didn't go, but heard on the news they did have a record of 99 trucks.

Next time I will go and try some of that food.

That is ALOT of trucks.

Last year when visiting my friend and her husband in Tallahassee, I was raving about how great some food trucks can be and saw that their downtown had a food truck meet on Thurs. nights. We went with big anticipation and there were only 3 trucks.

I have one this weekend where I am and it's all seafood.

Anyway, looking forward to trying the local ones down there

Yea it wasn't that good, lot of local trucks I guess I didn't realize we had so many, but I had seen most of them before also half of them were of your hot dog, hamburger and fries variety, more like fair food than anything else.

oh, that's too bad!

I agree with you though, if it was mostly that type of food, I'd be disappointed too.
