I'm having the hardest time finding a place to relocate to in the entire tampa bay area! The places look nice and then you go to apartmentratings and people are yelling about thefts, bed bugs and roaches! Does anyone have any recommendations? In the entire Tampa Bay area? lol
Of course, the important facts:
1. Must allow dogs up to 35 lbs
2. Prefer NOT in the city
3. By less than 850 a month for either a 1-2 bedroom apt
4. Be drug free and safe for children

If you can recommend something I'd appreciate it.

What do you mean by not in the city? Does the sprawl count as the city or just the city limits? Are you familiar with this area?

I suggest you contact Free help finding apartments in Tampa Bay, Orlando & Gainesville they helped me find many apartments when I first moved to town and they don't charge the tenant. They have access to specials that are usually better than the basic promotions that you can get through the front office. Each time I needed to move they found me several properties that met my requirements, provided floor plans and amenity lists, etc.

As for apartmentratings reviews, I have a previous post on this subject linked below.

No.

Look at various cities around the country and you'll see most apartments in those cities have the same types of reviews. It's a shame.

Those apartment ratings website are usually not always accurate. The thing is, people more often complain and never bother to write good things on the websites. My apartment complex is rated 25% on there, but I LOVE my apartment. I have a 1/1 w/ a den. When I move out, I'll be writing a positive review, but not a lot of people do that. However, if there were 500 reviews and only 5% recommended, then I would really consider those ratings!

Roaches will occasionally happen. You are in Florida after all. Just through small cracks, etc. We lived in this apartment for 3 years now - and the old one for 2 years and in those 5 years, we've had maybe 6 roaches find their way in. We keep our place clean.

It will be hard to find a 2/1 or 2/2 in a safer area for kids at the price you listed. Your best bet would be a 1/1. We pay $850 for our apartment, and they allow big dogs which is a plus. We have a 50lb dog. The area we live in is nice and you hear a lot of nature at night time and see deer occasionally too!

Currently, we are trying to find a 2/2 at a good price (our lease is up in February) I know we would have to go a little over what we pay now, and I've been noticing the Brandon area has a little better pricing. We went and toured Hamilton Bay yesterday and loved it! They were $950 about. There was also Tuscany Villas in Brandon which we toured. I didn't like them as much. They didn't have a pantry, but that is something small. They were about $895 for a 2/2.

Since I am currently actively looking, feel free to send me a message at all and I can also give you info about my apartment complex.

apts are like people... ever read the posts in here?, some happy- some not- some like this -and some like that- i love my apt 800+ a mo just outside Oldsmar. live alone and feel very safe... see lots of fat dogs, so I guess 35lbs ok. Not too many kids, but so see a bus drop of a few. what I like about this area I am in the middle on a pretty fast road to both the beaches or Tampa DT, have 4 malls in 15 min distance and it is quiet. I will not rent off dale mabry. Other option is to rent a priv condo- but be warned -most are owned by old folks and they hate kids
