Hi,

Looks like our current insurance provider doesn't cover home insurance in Florida. Does anyone have any good recommendations for insurance providers. This would be for a new construction home and 2 cars.

Thanks!!

If you are military (current/retired) or government, USAA is a great choice.

USAA does very limited homeowners insurance in Florida. I qualify to get insurance through them but couldn't get it through them last year when I bought my house (although they offered to be my agent for Citizens), so I went elsewhere. My homeowners is through American Integrity.

I am going to explore all of my options in the next few months to see if there are any better alternatives so I will give USAA another call.

I am considering two providers in Apollo Beach:

State Farm
Bayside Insure Florida (independent Agent)

I am leaning toward Bayside because of their options for me (esp. my 67 GTX) and the rates were better than State Farm. They also have a person on staff who will work with us to find health care. So, really a full service agent. And, as I waited for the agent to return from another appointment, his fiancee spent almost 20 minutes with me explaining step-by-step what I would have to do to get my cars registered.

Let me know what you think. Both are right in Apollo Beach. I like my agent to be relatively close.

Does anyone in the Apollo Beach / Ruskin area have experience with either of the two agents above? If not, who do you recommend and why? Thanks for all input.

PSD, I have no experience with Bayside, but I can give State Farm a rave. They were there for me in a very bad time and the service was excellent. Still have them for auto.

We have American Integrity as well. Let me know if you find something cheaper, because I called about 10 different places and they were cheaper by a good bit.

Crazy how insurance in Florida is...I was blown away that one insurer could quote me $3700 for my home and the next could quote me $2500 for the same coverages.

We have State Farm here and they have been good the one time we needed them.

I am not sure about your particular area, but I do know that AAA does Homeowners and Auto coverage in Florida. For me, they were the most reasonable.

If you want to deal with a really nice guy who is honest and will find you the best price, I'd like to suggest my agent, Joel Meek. We are transplants from Ohio and he has really taken good care of us. When he couldn't get us a better deal on our auto insurance he actually told us to stick with our current policy. Here's his contact information:
