Yep. My wife flies out of Tampa weekly and it is by far her favorite and easy in, easy out. She used to think RDU was good when compared to Hartford, which it still is, but it certainly ain't no Tampa.....by a LONG shot....LOL!

Rep points headed your way.

TIA (TPA) is consistently rated one of the best airports in the nation.

They are resurfacing the main runway at the moment, so that might contribute to more hassle and delays than usual, so keep that in mind. I'd get there early, there are plenty of shops and restaurants to entertain you while you kill time.

The Veterans is certainly easier to drive very early in the morning but the south bound back up can happen quite early, especially if there is an accident or a weather condition like fog or heavy rain.

Well having lived right near it for many recent years and especially with my wife's career, we both have used it quite often. My wife used it weekly and still flys in there for business. We know of what we speak.

With whom? I'm not doubting you I just can't find any rankings with TPA.

I've probably flown in and out of RDU well over a hundred times and I can tell you you're wrong.

My wife has flown in and out an average of twice per week at RDU for seven years.

Also, I can help the with previous posters comment and your question:

The 10 Best Airports In America - Business Insider

Tampa top ten in nation and number three medium size. RDU did not make the list.

There are many other more recent list that do not mention TPA. I find RDU to be much easier than TPA and I've flown out of both many times. Your "bland and sterile" comment pretty much discredits you anyway.

There may be more recent lists that do not mention TIA but do you have any lists that put RDU higher than TIA?
If you can't then your lone rating of the 2 does not really lend any credence to your assertion that RDU is better, only your lonely opinion.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. I am sure I will soon get familiar with TPA. I am going to miss the 2 terminal airport that I used in NC. I was off the plane and in my car in 15 minutes, lol.

Didn't look very hard? Google TPA airport ranking. Some results of that search are below.

Tampa International still ranks high in latest J.D. Power airport satisfaction survey | Tampa Bay Times

wiki = "In 2007 and 2008, Zagat Survey ranked TPA the "Best Overall U.S. Airport," while placing it second best overall in 2009 and 2010. In 2008 Condé Nast Traveler recognized TPA as the second-best airport in the world, just two-tenths of a point behind the first place winner. JD Power and Associates have also given TPA Airport consistently high customer satisfaction ratings over the years. In November 2011, CNN ranked TPA sixth among ten of the world's most loved airports, being the only one on the list from the US."

I'm not going to dig further, but it's true. TIA is acknowledged as one of the best airports in the US. I really don't care about how it compares to some airport up north since that is completely irrelevant and off topic.
