So I am planning on moving to Florida from Missouri and don't want to drive all the way down there and then not have something set up. I am planning on buying a house in these areas and want to know what you locals think of these specific areas. The address number is different but the street and zip codes are the same for the houses I'm interested in. What do you think of the general location I mean. Thank you so much!!

1153 Hamlet Ave, Clearwater, FL 33756

1151 Russell St, Clearwater, FL 33755

Do you mean to say you plan to buy sight unseen?! Make a trip. Or plan on extended stay housing/renting before purchasing. Our opinions might greatly differ from yours. You can learn a lot from other people's opinions, but you won't know what YOU think of the area until you see/experience it.

That said, I'm not familiar with Clearwater....good luck.

No I don't plan to buy sight unseen. I want to move down there but I don't want to drive 16 hours down there and find out that these areas are crime ridden and horrible to live in. That's why I am trying to get the opinions of some locals on a good area to check out. When I do go down there (3 weeks) to look at the houses I would like to have specific areas to be looking in that meet my price and are in areas where I won't get robbed.

ask your realtor and let him/her earn the money

I would really pay attention you the school the house is assigned to. Even though you might not care for schools, areas with well rated schools are safer than areas with low graded schools... for some reason

33755, that entire area can be tough, meaning high crime area.
My wife is an X Clearwater Police Officer.
Be careful, anything South of Union St., West of Highland. I know that is a big area,
but just be aware.
She just said she would not live West of Missouri Ave. or Highland Ave.
She suggested stopping into the CPD and ask to see some Crime Reports, Stats for the areas you are considering.
She is not 100% certain, but thinks have not changed since she left a few years back.
Stepping North of Union St. you are now in the City of Dunedin.
I would perfer Dunedin to Clearwater if you need to stay West.

This could be good advice, but some realtor will not give information like this.
I experienced this while looking for a house in Eastern TN.

I am not getting why is you are basically asking for public available information...
Well, at least Zillow is pretty accurate about school ratings...

Its a realtor ethics thing that I think most of them take too far. I'd agree with the previous poster that most realtors I've dealt with tend to be very (overly imho) conservative in saying "area 1 has A rated schools, area 2 has C rated schools".

As you noted its publicly available information but I suspect these types of realtors also don't know where to find it (or are just too lazy to bother/care).

Because sellers are willing to pay it.
