I have been a Bright House customer since 99. As I sit here on the phone waiting for a technical support rep to pick up (13+ minutes now).... after my internet speed repeatedly failed requirements for a telecommuting position I applied for (which it should NOT have failed!!!) I am strongly considering telling Bright House to KMA and switch over to Verizon.

If you were a Bright House customer and switched to Verizon (even if you ended up switching back to BH), please tell me what you love or hate about either. I need the pros and cons here.

Thank you in advance.

I have Bright House 60/5 internet. I have no real complaints outside of quirky hardware for the first month or so. But, before moving here I had FIOS in Pennsylvania for 7 years, and the ONLY reason I don't have it now is because I live outside the service area.

I will say that my connection/service has been flawless since I ditched their combination unit then purchased my own cable modem and router.

FIOS is going to give you better upload speeds. I think 75/35 is kind of the standard, middle-of-the-road speed tier for FIOS now. The best Bright House can offer is 90/10.

I have a Motorola 6141 cable modem which is on the approved list for Bright House. The best router on the market under $100 for a home user, IMO, is the Asus RT-N56U.

I still have the Bright House owned device for my phone service, but am contemplating getting rid is that soon.

I have Brighthouse. I think 30 down. I use their modem. We are a streaming household and typically stream 2 - 3 tv's at once. No issues and cheaper tha Verizon because I get local channels for free and do not need a box for the TV's.

Brighthouse is going all-digital in central Florida. I read about it just a few days ago on a tech-related forum that I frequent. Apparently, digital adapters will be required for all televisions. The question was asked about very new televisions which have an integrated digital/QAM tuner, but I have not seen a solid answer to that question.

I would think so. The modem just gets connected, but then you have to call Brighthouse and give them the info (model and MAC address from the label on the unit) so they can provision it on their network.

The router will work out of the box and has a quick-start guide and setup wizard to get things configured.
