I've used Enterprise on West Spruce Street a number of times. The good thing about them is if you're flying out early they have a drop box were you can just drop your keys. They do not pick you up from the airport it'll cost you a twelve to fifteen dollar cab ride over.

Strangely enough, a ride back to the airport only cost 10 dollars.

The smaller off-airport car rental companies aren't cheaper once you factor in the mandatory insurance you are required to purchase. The one and only time I attempted to rent from one of these places I was informed I was not getting my car unless I purchased their comprehensive insurance. They refused to accept the policy from my credit card which provides primary coverage. As I was in a heated argument with the manager, I was watching as they were extracting big bucks from families on vacation that had no other choice but to succumb to the extortion.

I only use Priceline bidding now. Once you have a cancellable car rental and you are 100% sure your trip is on, start aggressively bidding it. I just paid $10 a day for a midsize in St Louis, and that was on my first bid. I then cancelled my original $25/day reservation WITH THE SAME COMPANY. I should have started my bidding lower -- I've paid as little as $8 a day via Priceline bidding.

Enterprise Rent A Car on West spruce was over $100 cheaper per week then the enterprise rent-a-car kiosk at the airport.

Re-read my statement. I was referring to the smaller, fly-by-night companies around the airport.

Enterprise is not a small company, since they also own National and Alamo.
