Spring Hill isn't dead! But if it is not what you are looking for:

You can live down here in Tampa (Carrollwood Area) just live very close to the Veterans Expressway. You can be in Springhill in 45 minutes or so. The trip would be quick and you would live in Tampa.

I live in Land O Lakes. We shut down pretty much after 8 or 9 PM. A little further South on Dale Mabry (South of Northdale) is where you want to be. Quick access to the Veterans, places to eat, places to shop, and everything else.

Depends on what you are looking for in your social life, there are different circles sort of speak, are you looking for bars with live music, and by live music I mean some cover band doing 70-80's rock then there is plenty of that in northern pinellas which you are relatively close to, in the other hand if you are in suburbia kinda of nightlife ie drinking at your local applebee's, green iguana's or whichever other chain restaurant then Carrolwood, Lutz LOL can work for you, all this places are 30 min or so from spring hill but you would be reverse commuting as most traffic goes south in the morning and north in the evening so traffic wouldnt be a problem.

I haven't found an unpaved road in Spring Hill yet. Over in Brooksville, you'll find unpaved roads.

Also, Spring Hill is completely overrun with New Yorkers and I haven't noticed folks running around without teeth.

As far as shopping, I can be at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, JC Penney, Best Buy, Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, Bed Bath & Beyond, and countless other stores in 5-10 minutes. There are at least three each of the following within the same distance: Publix, Winn-Dixie, Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart. Additionally, there's an abundance of convenience stores, restaurants, etc.

As others have said you can easily get to/from Spring Hill via the 589 Suncoast/Veterans Expressway. I have to go down to the Tampa/St. Pete area for work all the time.

Spring Hill has 0% nightlife. It's 95% elderly people that go to bed at 8pm.
