I'm an international student looking for a university in Florida.
I was thinking about The university of tampa, but I also see there is USF. Which one is better of reputation and in a good neighborhood(safe)? Is it the same campus?
How is college life?

Thanks

USF is a public school, with LOTs of acedemic and research nationally recognized schools(College of Nursing, Education, Engineering, Business and more). VERY large campus over 40k students(about 4k live on campus). The areas north and east of the university are very safe and college oriented apartments..about 80% of the students coomute from the area, and its a little over 10 miles form downtown Tampa, great footabll team tyhat just started 11 years ago, in the Big East conference.
UT is a private college(more expensive), also nationally recognized for certain programs, but dont know enough to comment. It is a much smaller school directly in downtown Tampa.

Depends on what you're studying. USF is a state school/public university. I believe Univ of Tampa is a private school (more expensive). I understand that Univ of Tampa is a very good school, but once again, depends on what you're studying.

U of Tampa is downtown Tampa near the business district. USF is in Temple Terrace. I think housing is easier to find at USF. USF has a very large student body (50,000?). U of Tampa is smaller, I believe.

I went to USF for two years before leaving for a smaller school. Classes at USF had upwards of 300 students in some of my classes such as Calculus, Economics.

I'd think U of Tampa would be better for an international student due to its smaller size. However, you may find more students from your country attending USF and you may feel more comfortable there.

I'd hate to recommend a school to you unless you visit the area in person. You may experience a very bad culture shock in Tampa.
