Rapid growth causes a lot of construction needs. It would be worse forever if it was not done. No time like the present.

I also expect that many drivers are in unfamiliar surroundings which frustrates some who live here and know where they're going. Traffic congestion and bad drivers have been a factor since I moved here in the 80s. I don't like it but I doubt it will be resolved in my lifetime.
Florida has no choice. It either has to grow or die. Some states can do fine with slow growth, but not Florida. With a moribund real estate industry (like from 2008 to 2011), the state goes into a deep, deep recession.

So Florida can't win. It either has to grow and get too crowded, or not grow and have a terrible economy. The future, either way, is not good. Can you imagine the state with 23 million people in 2020?

Its not getting worse, your getting worse in that your allowing (normally due to age but not always) your vision to be fogged into thinking, "its not how it used to be", "have you ever seen such...", "we have past the point of no return", "the sky is falling".

More and more I am finding it difficult to participate in this forum because the majority of repeat posters perpetuate this doom and gloom in their every word.

From one human to another, I hope you find a reason to be happy about where you live and work, life is too short and quite frankly Tampa is no different then any other city in the world, it just has palm trees.

I've lived in Florida since 1980, been here in good times and not so good. Frankly, I prefer it not grow and have a crappy economy, because you used to be able to survive in a crappy economy in Florida. Florida has exceeded its carrying capacity, IMO. Water supply degraded, sinkholes, too much traffic and way, way, WAY too many people. Cancer is based on the "growth" model, too, and is what happens when "growth" is out of control as it is in many parts of Florida. This is where "growth" leads to death. The state cannot handle 23 million people. All these new arrivals are doing a bang-up job driving up costs.

Sorry to sound so grumpy about it, but right now, I feel like "Bah, humbug, GTFO."

I kinda agree. I'm a FL native, moved out of state then moved back. Long-term, as much as I like FL b/c I was born here etc... I'm not so sure I'd choose to live here long-term. Too many issues I'm just not sure I can get over. I work for a great company, and maybe one day, I'd like to possibly move to out Greenville SC location.

Put it this way, if I weren't born here with family that's lived here for years and years, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't pick FL to live over other Southern states. I do like the North FL area, especially the small beach towns like Amelia and Fernandina up there. Its kinda what I was used to in FL when I was younger, I just find that culturally, many areas have changed and it's just not what I remember it as a kid.

Wow; I've never thought about that but it makes sense.
