Well, Florida just got knocked off the front page by a shooting at a middle school in New Mexico. It's not clear if anyone was texting when they shouldn't have been, though.

Goes to show you that crime can happen in any area. Nice groomed lawns or not. New homes or old. Black people or white people or even yellow, purple, orange I don't care what color. What a shame of a confrontation to go so wrong. it is up to people to not allow things to go so wrong. TURN AND WALK AWAY! I have done this since I was 5 years old. Back in elementary school I was called a, "Coward" for doing it. Now a days I am called, "Smart" for doing it. It just is not worth it to allow a situation to escalate like this.

Such a shame...more loss of life...more survivors (wife and kids) to miss/mourn somebody the rest of their lives now

doesnt mean that we need to stoop to that level. Fear drives so much in this country. I say that more now after living abroad.

A ball point pen can be a "deadly weapon". Weapons are safe, quiet, peaceful tools.
When they are used to their full potential in the hands of a human being, that is why they become deadly. I'd rather have 45 people sitting around me with concealed weapons rather than have ONE chatting on the cell phone.

Correct and in this case rudeness got out of control but in a verbally abusive exchange murdering your adversary is a pathetic way to win the argument.

Sad that one crazy person can cause all this mess. I don't think it is the gun that needs to be highlighted since the crazy man could easily have used a knife or something else.

There must have been more in the man's past that has shown an anger management issue and I wonder how he functioned as a cop? Perhaps as a cop he made lives miserable since I have heard on the radio a couple of times when females called into one of the shows and stated that their husband would pull someone over for 5 miles over or 6 miles over and for other minor things since their cop "husbands" felt like they owned the roads and acted like a dictator and that the public better not run into them....this sounds to fit the profile of this murderer as we now know he is.

A lot is going to depend on what the victim said. If he said "I am going to kill you" and made a move, then deadly force may be justified.

I am convinced that a retired LEO wouldnt execute someone because he wanted to get back to the action on the screen.
