I would like a condo, coop or apt. but my dogs would prefer their own place -- avid ball-players and neither of them is suitable for a dog park. I'd have to be near the ferry since I would like to get rid of my car and I don't like suburbia. I walked for years with 3-4 dogs in the worst weather (Red Hook, Brooklyn). You have to wear the proper clothing. Well, I'm older now and only have two dogs. It would be nice to rent so I could see how I like various places but if that's not possible, I probably could buy -- in St. George.
CAn you rent for the winter in Fl and rent for the summer in NY? Split both places? That would be ideal. But find a better fit in Fl than where you are now (assuming you're not happy there)….

Nope! I was born and raised in lower manhattan and had a nice condo on the lower east side. I don't miss the winters, **** filled subways, street rats, yuppies, no parking spots, terrible weather, pollution, or anything like that.

I sincerely do not see the attraction of living somewhere FULL-TIME that is so grey, cold and DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY.

I do love NYC in October. That is about the only month that I find the city to be tolerable.

The weather is perfect, the air is clear, the leaves are changing, it's sunny.

The rest of the year is a nightmare. Winter is cold, grey and wet. Spring is cold, grey and wet. Summer is hot and wet. The greatly-hyped public transit system is dirty, smells like urine and dead animals and soot, is full of rats and you better hold on to your valuables and cover your genitalia.

The whole city reeks of pollution. Trying to get into the city is an expensive nightmare with crowds on transit and gridlock on roads. Same goes for trying to get out of the city.

I recommend once-a-year trips in October.
