We have been looking to move to the Tampa Bay area and have so far focused our search on South Tampa. My husband wants to expand the search to St Pete (Old NorthEast area). We definitely want an 'older' neighborhood.
Is this area family friendly? What other areas are?
What about Schools? I know Hillborough schools have a better reputation, but I've learned to not pay too much attention to 'rankings' but still need a good school. Shore Acres Elem seems to be okay but what about the middle and high school options?
Is there stuff to do in the area...shops, restaurants, that sort of thing?
Any info is appreciated! We are coming down in a few weeks to take a look

I'll let someone else answer the school question (as I do not have children), but the area is definitely family friendly, walkable, and downtown St. Pete is gorgeous, scenic, and plenty of shops.
