So I need to buy some furniture and was considering...

- Rooms to Go
- Ashley Furniture
- Macys Furniture
- Havertys Furniture

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Ashley's for us. We had our couch for over 10 years now, and it still looks great!

Macy's & Haverty's are way too expensive.

We use Haverty's a lot. Love them. This is a place where you can bargain down the price. We always get a good deal whether sale or bargaining.

Room to go is basic, for beginners stuff.

Macy's is over priced.

Ashley has a lot of veneer stuff.

I disagree regarding Macy's as I have scored some good deals there. Look for sales which are quite frequent, as well as floor sample sell-offs a few times per year. Crate and Barrel is a nice option and not that expensive especially when you're considering Haverty's, or what you'll wind up with at Ashley for not that much less. Crate and Barrel's slipcovered sofas and chairs are fantastic. Rooms To Go is a big time "avoid" unless you're working with a tiny budget and are desperate.

There are some great unique furniture stores in South Tampa. Blue Moon Trading Company, Summerhouse, etc. A lot of really cool, well-priced stuff.

We picked out some stuff from Havertys but it is sort of pricey, what sort of success/tactic have you used for bargaining with Havertys?

Kane's. We hit them all whenever we bought furniture and for the money, I couldn't find anything close to them...best price, quality, customer service, and delivered within a couple days. Plus, it was the only place where I didn't feel preyed upon...even though they all do it (which was news to me- my first experience furniture shopping). Worse than car salesmen!
