I currently own alot of property in Asheville, NC and want to sell to move closer to my son who lives in Tampa. I am looking at The Villages. If anyone has comments about the Villages Retirement community or knows of another good place to move, please let me know. We are also horse people and prefer to bring the boys with us to ride. I can't imagine a retirement community with horse stables... but what do I know? Lutz is just north of Tampa and has a rural feel and is relatively close to city ammenities. There are houses of all sizes, fields, and stables.
Do you board your horses somewhere, they won't be living where you do?

I can't personally speak about the Villages, but people I've talked with either love it or hate it. You might get more responses by posting this same question on the Florida Forum.

Eastern Roamer is right about Lutz, though some of that rural feeling is being lost to development. There is also a rather large equestrian area in Odessa around Tampa Downs.
