South Pinellas had WFSO which could have been the model for WKRP. They tried every genre of music-from Big Bands to Top 40 to AOR. One of the DJs went by the name Chuck U. Farley (seriously). It was a hoot. WUSF had a lot of the programming actually run by the students. One of the segments called "The Underground Railroad" was fantastic. WQSR (102 and a half) was a great station out of Sarasota which had a hella transmitter-I could pick them up in Gainesville. QSR would play entire albums before they were even in the stores.

Times have changed on the radio scenario I think those magic 70s where far better than these days. I still remenber how this hit was #1 at Q105 for almost 2 months back in September 1979 my Dad use to play this while we drove to Publix for our friday grocery shop.

Yeah, if I remember correctly. 95 was kind of in the middle, not pop like Q105 but also not as heavy as 98Rock back then.
Around 79 I would've been listening to 98Rock, Van Halen, AcDc, Rush,Styx
