am a Tampa resident that is allergic to pets, it seems that every rental complex in Florida allows them. The place I live now was one of only two that did not allow pets but now I have been here close to 3 years and since year 2 have seen dogs on the property. When you tell management they say they will look into it but do nothing. I hate places that have rules but dont enforce them. I think people and their pets are wonderful but I cannot be around them. Does anyone know of anywhere I could move that does not allow pets, only because I am allergic. I have read horror stories of people who do not take care and clean up after them, they allow the barking and they sneak in dogs that are breed restricted. I am concerned. So any information you can give me would be appreciated!!!

How allergic are you? I would think if your apartment is dog free you wouldn't suffer from allergies. Do you have a reaction at just the sight of a dog? The last few sentences of your post suggest you have other issues with dogs besides allergies.

When I am around them I get an allergic reaction of sneezing and coughing. I have read some post that people would rather get shots then give up their pets, to each his own. I just want people to be responsible and for management to understand that there are tenants who would prefer a pet free community. I was only asking for suggestions of places that do that. It would be a moot point if people did what they were supposed to do, adhere to the breed restriction, clean up after them, etc. Since I cant find a place, I am willing to find a place that has a place FOR THE DOGS on the property, so they can go there and clean up after them. If I am allergic I should not have to deal with an unauthorized dog upstairs when I was told this is a pet free community.

You best bet is to rent a 1 or 2 bed duplex or house that doesnt allow pets.
