Another vote for Weber Genesis gas grill. It's one of those things made in the USA that's built like a tank with thick cast iron and baked on ceramic paint that doesn't rust unless you just leave in out open in the rain. I had one in Texas that was left in outdoor patio for 12 yrs and was still in good shape. Had to part with it when I moved here *tears*. One of the first thing I got when I bought a house here was to replace it with another Weber Genesis. Picked one up on CL for cheap and after a quick clean up, it was good as new and has been sitting out in the lanai past 2 yrs. I'm sure it'll last 10+ yrs easy.

No "shield" except it's own cover! If you leave it out in the rain then I guess it'll rust....Now I have UTENSILS that rusted...because we left them out....but not the grill itself...
