I am at the end of my rope and I am hoping that the wonderful folks here on TBCD can help me out. Here is my situation:

I have major issues with my spine, disks and vertebrae. I had a discectomy and fusion, with a cage, screws and rods.....to prevent the progression of paralysis. The negative effect of the surgery was permanent nerve damage. So at this point I am in strong to severe pain every day. I can no longer work, can barely do anything around the house and can very rarely get out to do anything enjoyable at all. Luckily we have our own pool, which is where I spend time everyday.

So I am seeing a great PM doctor, have tried all the conventional stuff. I am hoping someone here may know of places in Pinellas County or very western Hillsborough County that have alternative treatments for nerve pain. I am looking for recommendations for providers and treatment types. I am thinking about trying acupuncture, but I am not sure if that would work on damaged nerves. And as they would be inserting needles, I want to ensure they are reputable and clean.

Any local recommendations at all would be greatly appreciated....acupuncture or any other alternative treatment. Chiropractor is not an option. I really can't take much more of this. I honestly think I would be better off dead. I need your help. Please.

Have you tried laser therapy? Might be worth a try. This place is the only place in Tampa that has one.

Since I am down here in Sarasota/Manatee, I can't recommend anyone up your way. But I do HIGHLY recommend acupuncture! I have been seeing a wonderful doctor down her for over a year, once per week. I have had degenerative spinal problems my entire life, scoliosis, compression, stenosis as well as neck and shoulder injuries with ongoing pain. Drs. always recommended surgery, but I said no. Chiropractors did NOTHING for me and I do not recommend that at all.

My doctor is worth every dime, and I would not be without him. I feel better than I did at half my age. Good luck to you!
