A CAT 5 coming up the pipe will be the end for all of us as it would pull up a dome of water 28ft high with gust to 220mph. No roof would hold up with a worst case storm coming from the southwest with a fast forward speed.

I live in Naples. Are you up in Tampa getting all this rain we have been getting the last few days? While I am not especially a Sun Lover, I don't want to buy a boat to go to Publix. It's been unreal.

No. Worst case would be making landfall around north Pasco county to drive water up the bay jay. I mean when a storm is coming this way it pulls up a dome of water. How high depends on how strong the storm is, think of a upside down bowl nole. Plus our water is shallow out to 90 miles west of Clearwater so that also makes it worse.

It confuses me how places along the water and areas that regularly get large rain falls lack the infrastructure to handle the rainfall. It further confuses me how places that regularly flood don't fix the problem. But then still confused how people bought in the areas that were prone to flooding. I'm one one confused guy today.

Chicago had lots of problems with flooding, they spent a ton of money ($4 billion) to build a "Deep Tunnel", a tunnel and reservoir system to handle the water from large rainfalls. Building started in 1975, more than 100 miles of tunnels which are as wide as 33 feet and as deep as 350 feet below ground. The reservoir was recently completed and holds 300 million gallons of water. Perhaps it's time for Tampa area to consider doing something other than handing out sandbags.
