Hey Chas, I have a question for you.....given your years here and assuming you have a weather alert radio. Our radio has gone off for severe thunderstorms in all the other states we have lived, however it has not gone off for severe thunderstorms even once here since 2012.

Are there different conditions which need to be met here or is it more likely that the types of storms here do not usually meet the severe thunderstorm minimums of wind, rainfall, hail etc?

Thx Bud.

I don't have one of them radio's. We just don't see the super power house T- storms like we do in the midwest or some parts of the north. Worst i ever saw here was during the no name storm back in 1993 when a super charged front blew thru with up a 100 mph winds. Many times our strongest T storms come when we have a northeast wind during the summer.

Not a drop in Gulfport. Like a neighbor said to me the other day: it's like there's a giant umbrella over us. Rain all around, thunder heard off/on all day yesterday, but never got any rain here. Sigh.

Looks like rains this pm and tomorrow pm will disrupt RayJay football games.......guess rain is better than scorching/blistering heat.

Sorry for my late report, but we got .5" yesterday. Zippo today, but man o man was the radar lit up down south. That would have been sweet.
