Did he tell you that you had been bitten by a brown recluse spider?

What antibiotics did you get?
Have you taken them all?

By law in the United States you have to be treated at a Hospital even if you do not have insurance coverage.
You have to fill out special forms and your fee can/will be reduced or non existent depending on your financial circumstance so ask for those forms.

Chas....seriously, go to an Urgent Care (for us, our insurance gives us a much lower copay at a UC, compared to an ER), or if you don't have insurance, go to the ER soon. IF those antibiotics were going to work, you'd have seen some improvement in the first 24-48 hours. You may need a different antibiotic; the first one doesn't always do the trick.

I had a strep infection on my leg a few years ago...had to change antibiotics once (the culture didn't come back for a few days so they initially treated it as a staph infection). Then I had to repeat as the first course wasn't sufficient and it showed signs of re-infection. It damaged a nerve and left a lot of scar tissue and I have intermittent nerve pain and also the internal scar tissue attached to a muscle and it 'pulls' on it at times when I over-exercise. Mine wasn't nearly as bad looking as yours, but it ended up being a helluva thing to get rid of, and the nerve damage is permanent.

Don't shrug this off.

That pic was the best you saw. It was much worse before that pic was taken.

Did your health care provider say anything about applying MOIST HEAT (a warmed, wet wash cloth, for instance). I'm hesitant to recommend it for fear that I'd make your wound worse, not knowing exactly what they're thinking, but some references recommend moist heat applied a few times throughout the day to speed up healing. Read this article to see if it's something you'd ask your doctor about or try.

You can apply moist heat (such as warm compresses) to help the abscess drain and heal faster. DO NOT push and squeeze on the abscess.

The health care provider may cut open the abscess and drain it.

Skin abscess: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia
He said nothing at all. I may end up suing if something goes wrong. So far i think it was just a bump that got bad. There is nothing to squeeze out as the lump is about gone, just raw skin. It was as big a baseball when it first started.

I don't think you can just sue them for not diagnosing properly on the first visit.
