OK campers my question is... I have parts from several old security systems from former businesses. One I know could easily adapt to my home as an excellent perimeter alarm. Yet I also got a ADT Focus one system kit and caboodle before the building was leveled. Here's the question, can the communications device from the ADT system(telguard T-1600) be retro fitted perhaps with a relay to convert the voltage, to work with the other system ademco silent watchmen 1023. I ask this because the old focus one system owned and serviced by ADT is like off limits to anyone. NO adt employee or contact will quirp one word of the system, eventhough I have the entire thing piled up in parts in my garage! Who can tell me more on this?

The biggest problem I can think of is the different communications protocols between the different systems.
The sensors have to be the same frequency and transmission mode as the receiver. The sensors need to report their status to the control panel and if anything is different it wont work.

Well to offer a bit more info, the Ademco is merely a perimeter loop and sends out a signal to just trigger the communicator where it should engage and automaticly call the programmed number or numbers as programmed in. At least that's what I believe it to do. Afterwards its my hope to reprogram the number in the dialer to be my cell. The hell with their GD monitoring service. I visited a website this morning that was nothing but complaints on their crappy hostage like monitoring contracts where they only charge the customer and seldom actually monitor your system.

Geee folks when I posted this originaly I was under the impression I was in a group of folks that had a working knowledge of security systems. My question is a simple one, isn't there ANYONE out there with the understanding of the application that Im trying to do here? OK to restate my question I want to use my ADT focus one system if I can which is in parts on my garage floor. I have the wiring diagrams and I bench tested the system by cobbling together its various parts yet preexisting access codes that had been programed into the system prior to me prevent me from arming and disarming the system. Several of the parts included were not required for my bench test , motion sensor , smoke detectors etc. yet the system seemingly had no trouble. And since ADT stonewalls me I was hoping some installer out there could help me bypass the proprietary nature of the entire system. It is designed to call THEM as they monitor any trip of the sensors. I believe it could be converted to call ME instead of them allowing ME to be the monitoring entity. How bout it gang whos the one to enlighten me!
