Hello Sunny Tampa/St. Pete's! I am trying to relocate to this area but am looking to secure a job before moving down. What I am finding extremely challenging is nudging my way into the job market. Although I am in mid-level management, I feel that employers are looking for local candidates. Any advice out there??? Thanks!

There are so many telecommunications jobs here! You can apply online for most of these places---
*Home Depot Call Center
*JP Morgan Chase
*Citigroup
*Humana
*AAA
*Pharmerica
*Ford Motor Credit
*USAA
*T-mobile

And the list goes on....

Don't exclude the hospitals in your telecom job search. My neighbor has a (similar to your experience) telecom job at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. He loves the job and they always have something neat going on.

For the local candidates, IMO, most employers I worked for in years past will promote within where possible and then look to hire outside. They also were not very big into relocation packages (unless you were an exec or exceptional candidate). Don't take it personally. Keep trying and don't give up!

There is also a Gi-normous Verizon facility on Fowler Av in Tampa.

My son worked at the verizon facility as a contractor. He lives in Tpa but hasn't had any luck getting hired full time. He now works for another telecomunication company as a contractor. He is a computer/network programmer/engineer .

Verizon apparently hires contractors first and then will hire you full time if they have an opening. They had a freeze on when he worked there so he moved on to another company.

Sprint also has a call center in Tampa. It all depends on what type of telecommunications job you are looking for.

Trinsic is also located in Tampa but I am not sure if they are hiring or even still around.

Sprint is the worst and I would never suggest anyone work for them. Trust me, you would have to deal with many pissed off people, such as myself--they rape you!

Verizon is hiring Fiber Support Analyst , unable to get anyone within the company to take the jobs. Monster and verizon websites have the jobs posted. My daughterinlaw says you must be computer savy to pass the test. THey will give you credit for work or college experience so you could start out at 21.46 hr. with all benefits paid for my the company for family. which still shocks me.
