I used to believe that too...but I think in recent years USF has made great strides and UT has a good reputation maybe just too pricey when compared to the "States"...I know rankings count but depending on your major the rank may not be as relevant...

Fair criticism. One of the biggest problems I see with college in Tampa is how few people with a college degree end up staying in the area. I, myself, could never justify paying UT's asking price when I could go north a few hours and get a degree from a recognized school. That's just me.

I think it all comes down to the aptitude, motivation, desire of the student and the program he/she is studying. One can get a great education at a non-rated school and likewise, one can waste a lot of their parent's tuition money when going to one of those top-rated schools. I know Yale graduates who don't have a pot to **** in and I know Idaho State University graduates who are living high on the hog from the education they obtained at that unrated, unknown school.

The ivy league school thing is about networking, because it often boils down to who you know. In technology driven fields it's all about certifications few people care about where your undergrad is from.

Since college rankings have been brought up. Today the Princeton Review came out with it's list of the top business schools in the world. The Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa is on the list.

I agree...I would never pay UT prices...but not everyone wants to or is academically able to attend UF or FSU...

Three Florida universities are in the top 100. University of Miami is ranked higher than FSU. Actually, UM is tied with UF at #48 and FSU is ranked #95.

I always forget UM exists. That's a screw up on my part.
