yes, redemption. A sheriff who saw a cash flow stream, a town population that had no qualms about it.
It had to be the most well known speed trap in the United States, but it still snared victims. I dont see how they got away with for so long.

It was a town i steered clear of. I would go a 100 miles out of my way before i would drive thru that place.

i never had a need to be up that way. I would think that if you knew about the trap it would be easy to avoid speeding as soon as you enter the city limits of the town and just crawl through.

Between Lawtey, Hampton and Waldo, it's 20 miles of speed trap with hard to determine city limits. The Hampton and Waldo police departments have been sent packing so maybe Lawtey will wise up before they lose theirs, too. All three of these cesspools of corruption should have had their charters revoked years ago.

Not surprisingly, our fearless leaders in Tallahassee did practically nothing.

Well i never drove in that area anyway, just saying i would go well out of my way if i did. I would not trust them even if i did the speed limit.

absolutely - I've been driving back and forth to Georgia over two decades through those towns and never, ever saw a car pulled over or never was pulled over myself. I made sure I was below their speed limit, for sure. Even AAA put out a warning about the speed limit going through. ...have no problem going the speed limit, but if they were pulling over law abiding folks, that's criminal on their part.

I drove that way a lot of time but I always watch the speed changes like a hawk. Problem is I am always 5 to 9 above posted following traffic, which is a tried safe speed in the highway, and if you don't look speed drops, say, from 55 to 45, you could be in a lot of trouble. I have never gotten a speeding ticket and the key is to stay in the pack, if you are above the posted limit
