WFLA has been trying to get further details on exactly what happened, but officials in Tallahassee and with the CDC are not saying too much. Very interesting, as we do not know who the person is, where they came from, why the CDC gave them instructions on how to handle this person. On all other cases, information was readily available and broadcast. However, they are much more closed lipped on this situation. I also thought it was different that they had a tent set up for the decontamination, which might be a good way to handle these things.

shut down travel to the US from the affected countries, for starters. sheesh. I'm getting just a tad tired of hearing about people announcing their arrival from West Africa followed by a technicolor yawn.

I am only talking about the event in Largo, FL. WFLA has been digging into what the particulars were, but have been getting shut down. Maybe they will have more on the local news tonight.

The problem with this is that EMT radio messages get picked up by 'listeners' even when its a drill!

They said this was not a drill. They said it involved someone for real. When I first saw it, I thought it was a drill.....but it was not.

Nice......just attempt to spread unsubstantiated rumors and stir up a little hysteria.

direct flights allows the Fed to monitor and screen....indirect flights through other counties allow potentially contagious passengers to get through any screening and roam the US, infecting the unsuspected.....that's just from the top of my head - not sure if that's what anyone is thinking, but what I would conclude they're thinking........

as far as folks "living downwind".....learn how the virus is transmitted.......

They were probably just practicing. Perhaps there was a scare at a local hospital that turned out not to be Ebola but revealed the need for better training.
