Frannie, renewal of vows is a great idea. This particular venue is located less than 30 minutes from our house.

So thankfully we will eventually be able to visit the venues. EngGirl, I would love a beach ceremony but I am worried that the weather will not be ideal in August to have it out because it's the rainy season. We did visit Tampa in June before we decided to move there, so maybe a late morning/early afternoon ceremony might work. What do you all think?
There is a high chance of rain in August, so I would definitely look for indoor options. Late minute changes from outdoor to indoor are stressful. Good luck and congrats!!!

I suggest the same, but, make sure the beach option is one they love. Indoor option is backup only.

Our wedding was on the beach and till last minute we weren't sure if it will be moved inside due to rain in question. And we were not even in rain season... That "move or stay" was not fun, trust me. If I could go back, I would plan indoor wedding for sure to avoid this horrible headache and then would go on the beach for pictures.

look at Tampa Bay Watch - its a lovely location at Fort De Soto very pretty and contact maybe PuffnStuff for catering. They are excellent and will work with your budget if they can, and if they can't they will tell you, I think they are very professional.

Looks like a nice location. I have to wonder about the insurance you have to buy if the event is "large scale". I wonder how large they mean.

Do not plan an outdoor wedding without an indoor venue as back up...not only is August dicey because of t-storms it is hotter then heck...so really awful for your guests to bake in the heat till your arrival...

August is also Hurricane Season, just another thing to worry about for your guests and party. If the OP can, perhaps the date can be re-thought??

OP, don't' let caution overcompensate for your special day. Pick the day and venue that suits you and your future spouse. Just be sure to have a backup plan in case of wet weather of any variety.

All will be well.

The main reason why we're thinking around August is because my fiance and two people in the wedding party are in college so August was one of the few times, that wasn't around thanksgiving or Christmas were all three of them would be out of school all at once. I think in light of the rainy and hurricane season that I have to pick a venue that can be outdoors and easily have it inside with short notice if the weather doesn't cooperate. The weather is also making me lean more towards having the venue at a hotel because guests won't even have to leave after the reception. I'm looking at the double tree hotel, there is one along the water that is right by the airport and another one a few miles out close to the airport that both look nice.
