Is the gated portion worth the additional monthly fee?

My sister is 70, widow and recently retired. She thinks SCC would be perfect for her.

Are there lots of other single women there?

When you say "gated portion", do you mean King's Point? Technically speaking, King's Point is its own community. It does share a zip code with Sun City Center, and is in the same area, but is a separate community from the community of Sun City Center.

King's Point has a pretty heft condo fee. However, I've spoken to many people who think the fee is worth it. One couple I know who live there say they'd spend about the same amount of money every year on maintenance for a non-condo home, so it works for them.

Yes, there are lots of other single women there. And they're always on the lookout for single men.

The good thing about Kings Point is that the HOA provides a shuttle service to shopping areas, grocery stores, hair salons, hospitals, and other conveniences. This is great for those who can't drive. The HOAs are over $400/mo, I believe but it there are several services included (lawn maintenance, periodic painting, roof (I believe), and other things.
