Anywhere else and the accidents would be on the highways
here we had a boat crash into a waterfront restaurant due to fog
fortunately no one was hurt badly, not one to make fun of any
accident but it did make me smile

It seems as though they must have been going way to fast for such weather conditions. It does not seem like an accident that should have happened had they been more responsible but perhaps someone with more boating experience would have a different perspective.

Out driving at dawn yesterday in thick fog I was AMAZED at how many cars did not have their lights on!! So incredibly stupid.

Pictures on this link - posted about it yesterday. Family usually goes to this restuarant 1-2/yr including Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. Pretty idiotic to have a boat travel that far off course with such poor visibility - probably alcohol involved.

The boat had FOUR large engines. 300 hp each. 1200 hp to move a 40 ft boat? I dont think that is necessary.

Speeding around in the fog is also not a bright idea.

A friend of mine was just ending his first cruise. Sounds like fun.

Reminds me of the time (May 1980) that the center section of the Sunshine Skyway bridge collapsed after one of its pilings was hit by a freighter. Seems the visibility at that time was zero as well and the captain realized too late that they had gone off course. I lived in Miami at the time and remember hearing about this accident. I've gone across the new Sunshine Skyway bridge a number of times since it was rebuilt, but I never do that without thinking about that accident.

I was thinking about the Skyway Bridge when I heard about this accident yesterday afternoon. I think they had stormy weather - but could be mistaken.

Sounds like we've gotten smarter. Cruise ships were held back from docking into the Bay this a.m. due to fog.

Chris Urso just got this photo of the Brilliance of the Seas being escorted through the fog that has delayed its arrival into Tampa. Among the passengers is Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, who is participating in a fundraising Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. Story: http://buff.ly/1GqiT33

I could get out to my places 65 miles offshore in a hours time on that boat. Just think each of them outboards are around 23k a pop.
