Hello, I'm looking for a higher-end location to rent an apartment which will allow my wife to commute both to Florida Hospital Carrollwood and St. Joe's-South in Brandon, spending time equally in both hospitals. Rent is not as much of a concern as is safety and less of a commute.

I'm leaning towards Brandon as it would provide access to the Selmon Expressway, but have also heard that Brandon is hit-or-miss for safety. We have ruled out urban living in Tampa and would prefer to rent in a suburban-type apartment community. Any other suggestions as to a suitable area?

Thanks in advance for your input.

What about Wesley Chapel as it is 15 min from Carrollwood (depending where in Wesley Chapel) and 25 min from Brandon.

25 minutes to Brandon? Maybe at 2am!!!

I would say visit during rush hour first, or lately, any hour!

Are you kidding me?

In what universe is Wesley Chapel 15 minutes from Carrolwood or 25 minutes to Brandon??

Like the other poster said, maybe at 2am on Sunday

I think you will be hard pressed to find a NICE area that fits both of those needs. In fact, I think it's impossible. The closest I can offer you is maybe a condo in the Westshore area, you MIGHT be able to get to Carrolwood in 15 minutes, and if you can get over to the crosstown, take it to Brandon and get there in time

Under no circumstances Wesley Chapel

I heard that the apartments in Brandon off 676/Falkenburg Rd. near where the Salmon Xway comes in are decent. Would you say that New Tampa is nicer/safer than this area?

From google traffic maps both areas seem to meet the commuting criteria.

Its probably a nice complex but I'm not crazy about that area. Its close to Progress Village which is a big area designed for low-income residents. Just my opinion but If your wanting "high-end" I don't think you'd like that area.

You might like Harbor Island. Its pretty safe and more high-end and kinda in the middle of the two hospitals.

Edit: nevermind lol. Just read you don't want an urban area.

There is NO WAY you can get from anywhere in New Tampa to the hospital in Carrolwood he is talking about (which is near Sligh and Dale Mabry) in 15 minutes.

It's just not physically possible. It would take 15 minutes to get from 275 & Busch, (which is the closest interstate exit) to the hospital. Ever drive down Busch during the day? Let alone during rush hour It's a zoo... and on Dale Mabry, it backs up between Linebaugh and Waters Southbound in the morning, it's a parking lot.

I live in the area and drive from Carrolwood to downtown every day.

OP, do not listen to these suggestions.

My girlfriend used to live in Providence Lakes in Brandon, which is kind of near where you are talking about (but much nicer). There is NO WAY you can get from there to the Hospital in Carrlowood in 15 minutes. It would take me 30 minutes, if I took the selmon expressway, almost 40 if I didnt. And that was not during rush hour.

Yeah I just checked google maps (9:15 AM) and the Carrollwood hospital was 31 minutes from New Tampa (I picked a location by the New Tampa YMCA).

Easier to get to the Brandon hospital of 75 (23 min) but I'm ruling out New Tampa.

I don't understand why Progress Village in Brandon would be made into low-income housing, seems like there is enough low-end housing in the area. Just doesn't send to be much on the higher-end.
